My family.....is relatively comprehensive. Oftentimes it encompasses the entire world. And sometimes I see myself as one of the seven blessed offshoots of two remarkable human beings- MY PARENTS! Coincidentally, my immediate family is also limited to only seven members.
My husband Shanker Natarajan, works as the Financial Advisor for one of the biggest organisation which is considered the lifeline of the Nation. It is also known as the Indian Railways.
My son Roshan, is a Financial Manager in Microsoft- a mighty empire that owns the world of computing. He is married to Nalini, who is currently working as a Senior Consultant for Deloitte. Both live in the Emerald city called Seattle.
Rumana, my daughter, graduated from NIFT Delhi as a Fashion Designer. After a brief stint in Lagos where her designs were showcased worldwide, she is now taking a break from work. Robin, whom she is married to, is currently working as a Marketing Manager for Black and Decker. Both are at present staying in Dubai.
Next in line is Champagne- the Golden member of our family. This gentle giant, who arrived as a gift for my daughter's birthday, has been with us for the past fourteen years (98 in human years). God willing, he has more elaborate plans; namely to complete a century and maybe some more. And only then retire to the doggie pavilion.
And then there is Nelson, the feline feature that decorates our household. Even with only one eye to boast, I must say that he still has a lot of cattitude!! And I guess we humans need to learn a thing or two about harmony from these two pets of mine.......:-}
Champagne and Nelson
And now for a few more details about my khichdi family. My mom was from Andhra Pradesh and my Dad from Orissa. My husband is from Tamil Nadu. My son-in-law Robin's mom Hema belongs to the North East but her dad is from Andhra Pradesh. Her husband Rana is from Assam but his dad is from Bengal.
As for my daughter-in-law's parents- Sylvia is a Mangalorean and Ananth is again from Tamil Nadu but brought up in Mumbai. Right now however, they are all Canadian citizens. Champagne is from Bengal and Nelson is from Mumbai, and I have lots and lots of lizards staying with us in Bhubaneswar. So folks:
Yeh mulk tera hai, yeh rajya mera hai, yeh soch sirf insaan mein hai India mein mera ghar nahin, India mere ghar mein hai..........:-}
