Among the Jill'ian' trades that I experimented with, beauty therapy was one of them. And even though I'm not a practicing beautician, all my certificates are at least not gathering dust- instead they have become a part of my wall decor...LOL.
However my experience at the Top To Toe College in Kualalumpur, where I got my diploma when we were posted in Malaysia, was an unforgettable and exciting one. I made some really good friends there. But the only time my skills came to the fore was when I helped out with the bridal grooming for my daughter and my daughter-in-law.
But one year at the academy, four certificates and lots and lots of unpronounceable techniques later, the only trick of the beauty trade that I learnt was this- there are no tricks. The one way to keep young is to feel young. And what saddens me is the fact that even after knowing that aging is not reversible and a battle that can never be won, people still spend millions on these worthless ammunitions. Some are even daring enough to face the surgical scalpel.
The only thing one should keep in mind is that a healthy skin is a beautiful skin. Period! And for that all you need is a daily dose of cleansing, toning and moisturising. Nothing more! And beleive me, most of the secrets to a glowing skin are found in your grandma's recipes. And most of the cleansers, toners and moisturisers are standing right there in your kitchen shelves.
BUT......(and have you noticed that if you spell the word 'b..u..t..' you pronounce it as beauty').....the most important beauty tip that I can share with you all right here is this : No matter what, always try to defy gravity by keeping your orbicularis oris muscles stretched in a beaming state of attraction. In other words- Keep Smiling...:-}
